Essential Functions:

  • Directly supervise Sanitation and Maintenance team members.
  • Manage the sanitation and maintenance of plant equipment, machine tools, buildings, refrigeration, HVAC, electric, gas, water and air systems, sewer and waste disposal systems, fire sprinkler systems, and parking lot facilities.
  • Monitor the method and quality of sanitation and maintenance work being performed; take corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure that the plant is cleaned daily and ready to start production on time
  • Troubleshoot daily quality, safety, and production equipment issues.
  • Plan, layout and schedule work for functional areas of responsibility and delegate work on a project or individual basis to sanitation and maintenance technicians.
  • As needed, source outside vendors; establish project scope.
  • Develop and maintain company’s master sanitation schedule.
  • Develop and maintain company’s preventative maintenance programs.
  • Develop and monitor formal control programs to track and regulate repair costs and spare parts inventories.
  • Prepare and maintain department reporting and record-keeping systems.
  • Develop, implement and ensure adherence to SOP’s.
  • Interface with regulatory and third-party agencies including USDA, OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and Fire Department, etc.
  • Ensure that all aspects of his or her area of responsibility is in full compliance with the food safety and quality systems in place at the operation at all times.  Maintain good housekeeping conditions and ensure employee conformance to safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
  • Inform team members of changes to their day-to-day responsibilities and provide regular constructive feedback on their performance.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
  • Ensure the training is maintained by his/her team leaders and operator training tracks are up to date at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a food manufacturing environment, and at least one year of supervisory responsibility.
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent in related field is preferred, equivalent combination of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A comprehensive understanding and experience with SQF, SSOPs, GMPs, HACCPs, PPEs, and chemicals used in the sanitation process is required.
  • Strong mechanical ability and a working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and PLC systems are required. Demonstrated ability to apply and conduct good root cause analysis techniques and resolve problems is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to teach, coach, and mentor team members effectively.
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong personal organizational skills.
  • Ability to always operate with the highest ethical conduct and objectivity in accordance with the stated company values.
